Solas Yamaha Stainless 3-Blade Propeller - 16-5/8" Diameter x 19" Pitch, Right Hand Rubber Hub

A stainless steel three-blade propeller for Yamaha outboards, 16-5/8 inches in diameter with 19 inches of pitch and right-hand rotation. It uses a pressed-in rubber hub, the same shock-absorbing design as the factory Yamaha propeller.

Check your fitment before ordering

Propellers are engine-specific. Diameter, pitch and gearcase all have to match, and a propeller that bolts on is not necessarily a propeller that runs correctly. Before you order, confirm three things against your current propeller or your engine manual: the gearcase your Yamaha uses, the diameter, and the rotation direction. Right-hand rotation is standard on single-engine boats. On twin-engine boats one side is counter-rotating.

How pitch changes the way your boat runs

Pitch is the distance the propeller would travel in one rotation through a solid. Lower pitch turns higher RPM and gives stronger hole shot and better load-carrying. Higher pitch gives more top speed and lower cruising RPM but works the engine harder from a standstill.

The target is to reach the top of your engine's wide-open-throttle RPM range with a normal load. Roughly, every inch of pitch is worth about 150-200 RPM: if you are over-revving, go up in pitch; if you cannot reach the top of the range, come down. At 19 inches this is a mid-range pitch - a balanced choice for general-purpose running rather than a hole-shot or top-speed specialist.

Why stainless over aluminum

Stainless blades are thinner and far stiffer than aluminum. They hold their shape under load instead of flexing, which is worth measurable speed and better bite in a turn. They also survive impacts that would fold an aluminum blade, and they can be repaired rather than replaced. Solas stainless carries the industry's highest percentage of chromium, nickel and molybdenum, so it resists rust and corrosion better than commodity stainless.

How do I know if I need 19" or 21" pitch?
Run your boat at wide open throttle with a typical load and read the tachometer. If you are above your engine's rated WOT range, go up in pitch. If you cannot reach it, go down. Each inch of pitch is worth roughly 150-200 RPM.

What is right-hand rotation?
Viewed from behind the boat, a right-hand propeller turns clockwise in forward gear. Single-engine boats are almost always right-hand. Twin-engine boats run one right-hand and one left-hand.

Will a stainless prop actually make my boat faster?
Usually yes, by a small margin, because stainless blades do not flex under load the way aluminum does. The larger gain is durability and consistent performance in turns and chop.

What does the rubber hub do?
It absorbs shock between the propeller and the driveshaft, protecting the gearcase during shifts and impacts. It is the same principle as the factory Yamaha hub.
